Text published on the banner:

Haf 1977... marwolaeth Elvis... y Jiwbilî Brenhinol, mae'n ddwy flynedd cyn Refferendwm 1979 ac yn Eisteddfod Wrecsam... Celf Berfformiadol ar y Maes!

Y rhaglen
Yn "Fel y Darfu'r Gorffennol – Fel y Del y Dyfodol", llamodd Celf Berfformiadol yn annisgwyl ar dorf Maes yr Eisteddfod gydag ymyraethau cyforchrog
unigolion fel Mario Merz a Janis Kounellis, Nigel Rolfe a Paul Davies (1947-1993)

Ynglyn â Chelf Berfformiadol
"Un o'r pethau allweddol am gelf berfformiadol yn y cyfnod hwnnw oedd ei bod, yn fy nhyb i, yn hanfodol dramgwyddus. Roedd yn aml-ddisgyblaethol. Nid croesi ffiniau yn unig oedd, roedd yn ymgeisio i dryledu ffiniau..." - Timothy Emlyn Jones, artist a gymerodd ran yn 1977 yn cofio'r digwyddiad a fu'n rhan o What's Welsh for Performance? Beth yw 'performance' yn Gymraeg, Heike Roms. Am ragor o wybodaeth ar gelf berfformiadol ewch i www.performance-wales.org

Datguddio Celf Berfformiadol
Gellir dehongli pendantrwydd pwrpas arddangosfa 1977 a'i effaith – dryswch neu ddifyrrwch – yn amlwg ar wynebau'r gynulleidfa. Roedd gennym ddiddordeb gweld beth yr oedd haf 1977 yn ei olygu iddyn nhw. A allwch chi gyfrannu i'n ffrâm o atgofion?

Ein cyswllt gyda'r Amgueddfa Gelf Genedlaethol newydd
Rydyn ni hefyd yn creu cysylltiad rhwng Y Lle Celf yn yr Eisteddfod eleni a'r Amgueddfa Gelf Genedlaethol newydd yng Nghaerdydd. Mae'r Welsh Not a greodd Paul Davies o drawst rheilffordd, ac a gerfiodd wedyn ar ffurf llwy garu enfawr ac eiconig, yn rhan greiddiol o arddangosfa agoriadol yr Amgueddfa Gelf newydd dan y thema "Ni allaf ddianc rhag hon".

David Alston - Cyfarwyddwr y Celfyddydau, Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru.

Summer 1977... death of Elvis... Royal Jubilee, it is two years before the 1979 Referendum and at the Eisteddfod in Wrexham... Performance Art on the Maes!

The programme
In "How the Past Perishes – How the Future Becomes", Performance Art burst upon the unsuspecting Eisteddfod public with the likes of Mario Merz and Janis Kounellis, Nigel Rolfe and Paul Davies's (1947-1993) collateral interventions.

On Performance Art
"One of the key things I think in performance art at the time was that it was essentially transgressive. It was interdisciplinary it didn't just cross boundaries, it sought to diffuse boundaries..." - Timothy Emlyn Jones, a participating artist recalling the 1977 event in Heike Roms What's Welsh for Performance? Beth yw 'performance' yn Gymraeg. For more on performance art go to www.performance-wales.org

Performance Art revealed
How the 1977 exhibition's seriousness of purpose and its engagement – bemused or amused – can be read in the faces of bystanders and onlookers. We were interested in a reflection of that summer of 1977 for them. Can you contribute to our frame of memories?

The link now to the new National Museum of Art
We are also making a link from this year's Y Lle Celf back to the newly inaugurated National Museum of Art in the National Museum in Cardiff, where in its opening display, Paul Davies's railway sleeper Welsh Not, subsequently hacked by him into a gigantic and ironic Welsh love spoon, is a fulcrum work in the exhibition "Ni allaf ddianc rhag hon" – "I cannot escape this place".
